Enjoyed reading another Goldy Schulz book. Keep "rolling" them out ☺. A page turner but ended abruptly. Must get all 12.
Some quite unexpected events occurred in this story! But the “who dunnit” aspect leads readers till the end to be able to assemble all the pieces of the mystery.
I love the Goldy Schultz books. Well-written cozy mysteries, a good variety of characters, and in the bargain - recipes! These are not complicated noir or spy novels, in fact they aren't "dark" at all, (well, except for that murder stuff) but the plots are good and I almost never guess the murderer. Top marks for Ms. Davidson in the "cozy" category!
If you like these cozy caterer mysteries, then you'll enjoy Double Shot! Full of twists and surprises, I actually didn't see the end of this one coming. Lots of fun!
This is the second story I've read by this author, and I appreciate her clean language and style in telling a truly interesting story. She doesn't rely on vulgarity or vulgar descriptions to get you to feel and care about the characters and the story.
OK, I admit my primary reason for buying this book was to find out what happened to The Jerk as he was noteably missing from some later books in the series - except for omnious backward references. The story itself was a typical Goldy Bear mystery, and there is nothing wrong with that. Maybe not the best in the series and certainly not the worst one (which ever one that may be in your opinion.) I enjoyed the mystery and the twist at the end, and that is really what I expected when I got the book to enjoy a good read with a character I have come to know pretty well.
Her books are fun and crazy filled with many unusual comedic characters. A lovable bunch of totally entertaining people. I recommend these books to friends who love Stephanie Plum and Lula, who are two of my favorites who make me laugh out loud, as do Goldie and Marla.
Great books to take your mind off real life and help you lose yourself in their complicated and hysterical affairs.
