World War II Posters is a collection of 245 original posters from WWII related to savings and investment, productivity and invention, service and support, environmentalism and conservation, security and trust, freedom and sacrifice, friends and allies, health and safety, and victory gardens. The federal government produced and distributed informational materials to attract and encourage public support for the money, material resources, labor, and personal sacrifices needed to mount a successful war effort. The Office of War Information distributed posters on a national scale to post offices, schools, and railroad stations. Defense Councils in each community were instructed to form a committee to regularly receive posters. The committee determined the number needed by the community, selected posting locations, and set up a route and distribution system. New posters were distributed at the beginning of each month.

Color printing in the digital age has advanced in great leaps compared to color books done in the 1970's. and so had quality and sharpness.sadly while the posters are great, the quality of their reproduction, or should I say resolution in print, is so bad, could have done better using a digital phone camera images..!!
they look as if they were were less than half a meg images. this affects the fine detail, and often the text in the prints.
The rest of the book (as if there needed to be any, as with a subject like this, i could have been totally dedicated to nothing but posters), is OK.
next time, they should either get better quality scans (even VGA quality would have been sharper, and that is not saying much), buy a scanner, or leave it to the printers, who must be embarased they turned out such yuck work..

NOT IN COLOR & BIG BUCKS
by simply viewing and reading the messages on the posters one can get a real concept of what life was like during Wii. even as small children we all helped in some way. much of that concerted effort is missing today and we need to heed the lessons of our past in order to avoid making the same tragic mistakes.
Because these images say a lot about America (and the world) of the Forties and Fifties. I was amazed how foolish some of the advertising comes off today. Buy you bonds now--in twenty years they'll be worth $1.50 more than the purchase price. Haha. But seriously, this is a major history lesson. The world will never be like this again!
