I bought this book because I have reread this authors book "The Mirror" so many times that my copy fell apart. This book was a horrible let down. I read about 30% of the book and just couldn't punish myself with the choppy story line anymore. My mom was also reading the book and finished it out of morbid curiosity, hoping it was just a slow starting book where the author evened out the plot later. This was not the case. I received a late night call saying, don't bother finishing the book. Just close it and try to not beat yourself up for wasting money on it. Very sad. "The Mirror" has been one of mine and my mother's favorite books for over 20 years for me and longer for my mom. The plot has real potential, but the follow through is so uneven.Tags : The Threshold [Marlys Millhiser] on Amazon.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Have always admired this author, she really takes you to the past.
I loved The Mirror by this author.... I couldnt even get through this one......
Ecstatic to see Marlys Millhiser's books available in electronic form! The Threshold is one of her best works. If you like history and time travel books, this is definitely worth the read. Also, her book The Mirror is highly recommended.
I just finished rereading this book and enjoyed it more the second time. I wish Marlys Millhiser would write more novels like this one and "The Mirror". It is a wonderful story of the past and present in Telluride Colorado. It is just as good as "The Mirror". I love books that weave a mystery of past and present. If you do too, try to find a copy of this book! You won't be sorry.
"The Threshold" was a good story and held my interest. But if you haven't read "Mirror" by the author read "The Threshold" first. I was disappointed (and it really was good!) because "Mirror " was an exceptional story. In fact, my (adult) daughter was named Shay for the title character in "Mirror".
I've been a fan of Marlys Millheiser for years, and am finally getting around to reading all her books. Time travel is one of my favorite possibilities, and I enjoyed the contrast between past and present. Aletha is a strong woman, determined to protect Callie, but will she be able to locate her in the past?
Millhiser’s adventure-romance Willing Hostage is my favorite book of all time, and this book has her same crisp, spare descriptions and the gift of keeping you present in wonderful Colorado settings. The Threshold adds to her fine style and story telling by inserting real history in both present and past settings. I just wish Cree and Aletha had had more time together, either now or then lol. An overall excellent read.
